Quasar – High Throughput Spectrometers – StellarElite Line

High throughput – f/2 Optics – Over 10x Sensitivity

Q: Tell us a little about the Quasar.

A: The Quasar is a Raman spectrometer, which elevates scientific research with its rapid data acquisition, minimal noise, and amplified signal strength.

Q: How does the Quasar differentiate from other spectrometers?

A: By employing state-of-the-art volume phase holographic gratings (VPHGs) and a near diffraction-limited optical design, the Quasar overcomes the limitations of traditional ruled grating spectrometers, delivering superior performance and accuracy.

Q: What are some cool features of the Quasar?

A: The Quasar’s utilization of Volume Phase Holographic (VPH) gratings ensures maximum diffraction efficiency, resulting in unmatched throughput and effortless precision. You can literally take a Raman measurement in 100ms that used to take you a second of acquisition time!

Q: How did you come up with the inspiration for the Quasar?

A: Years of refinement and recent advancements in fabrication techniques enabled us to unite disparate components into a cohesive system, fulfilling a crucial need in the scientific instrumentation market. Our new “StellarElite” line of high performance spectrometers, such as the Quasar, provides research quality results at fractions of the price.

Q: What is the Quasar Ultracool and how is it different from the Quasar?

A: The Quasar Ultracool elevates spectroscopy by having the 10x optical gain of the standard Quasar with additionally improved signal-to-noise ratios and reduced dark currents, setting a new standard for excellence in scientific analysis. The Quasar-UltraCool’s CCD detector is vacuum sealed and cooled to -60 °C with peak quantum efficiencies of up to 95%!  Basically, this is a top of the line, best-of-the-best, research spectrometer in a compact and realistically affordable package.

Q: Are there any projects you’re currently working on?

A: Expanding beyond Raman spectroscopy, the Quasar series is poised to tackle low-light applications in fluorescence, astronomy, and impurity detection, signaling our commitment to advancing scientific exploration.

Q: How do you feel about StellarNet’s new StellarElite Line? What do you think it means for the company and for you personally?

A: I think it’s great! StellarNet, Inc. has been around for over 30 years providing low cost, rugged spectrometers. In 2016, we started our applications division, Analyzers for Industry, which focuses on end user applications and complete systems. Now with the release of our StellarElite line we now plan to provide even higher performance spectrometers to researchers around the world. I love the concept of StellarElite as a scientist and an engineer because we are constantly pushing for innovation and quality and at the same time keeping the market honest by providing outstanding spectrometers at reasonable price points.
