Saline wastewater treatment with purple phototrophic bacteria
T Hülsen, K Hsieh, DJ Batstone – Water Research, 2019 Abstract Biological removal of organics, nitrogen and from saline wastewaters is adversely impacted by high salinity, which can be a major concern for treatment of industrial or domestic saline wastewater. In...UV-blocking High-tunnel Plastics Reduce Japanese Beetle (Popillia japonica) in Red Raspberry
ME Cramer, K Demchak, R Marini, T Leskey – HortScience, 2019 Abstract Insecticides are the primary tool raspberry growers use to control Japanese beetles (Popillia japonica), but reliance on pesticides is costly and there are risks to nontarget species. Based on...Innate resistance of PSII efficiency to sunlight stress is not an advantage for cyanobacteria compared to eukaryotic phytoplankton
L Beecraft, SB Watson, REH Smith – Aquatic Ecology Abstract The effects of acute solar radiation stress on photosynthetic efficiency in freshwater unialgal cultures representing three phytoplankton pigment groups were measured by pulse amplitude modulated...Customer Spotlight: HortLED Develops LED Grow Lights for Commercial Growers with aid of a BLUE-Wave Spectrometer
HortLED is introducing the ARC 600, a scientifically developed LED grow light designed for commercial cultivation. “Commercial growers tend to focus on two points when selecting new lighting,” says Alex Bodell, founder of HortLED, “Plant performance and price....Exploring Conditions for Ultrafine Particle Formation from Oxidation of Cigarette Smoke in Indoor Environments
